  1. I finally got hold of this Ralph Towner CD and can not be anymore pleased by it. Towner's work is dark in timbre and always pleasent and the piano and guitar duets will leave you in relaxation except for the gong work on Images Unseen. Dark Spirt is very moody and features some nice piano improv and lush accompinment of guitar/5(25).

  7. Jan 23,  · The best of these is "Icarus," one of Towner's best-known compositions, which also appeared on Matchbook, his duo album with Gary Burton. The guitarist's most unusual moves include playing a set of gongs behind his sparse string work on "Images Unseen," and using his guitar entirely as a percussion instrument to create a propulsive.
